ManyMoose, Yes, ER is a tough assignment. The ER doc has no knowledge of your medical history other than what you yourself communicate, assuming you yourself are able to communicate. The ER doc is essentially flying blind with you and what might be going on with you.

ERs triage as best they can. On weekend nights particularly, ERs can be besieged with emergencies. Also, in many hospitals, the ER doc has the responsibility of taking care of emergencies which occur among hospitalized patients.
