Glenn,

Welcome! Your post brings up fond memories of my three canoe trips in Canada. Two were into Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario, and one into 90-mile-long Tagish Lake in BC/YT. One of my goals is to get out there and do some more canoeing in Canada.

I will check out the book and magazine you referenced.

Have you ever read this book?

"Canoeing With the Cree" by Eric Sevareid

It's about a couple of young guys who canoed from Minneapolis to Hudson Bay via the Minnesota River and Red River. My Dad was about 10 years old when the went by his little town on the Minnesota River.

Historical sign near Traveller's Rest on Highway 93.

Apparently the photoserver is catching up. I just uploaded some photos of Lewis and Clark photos I took last October. They haven't been seated at Snapfish, it appears. Maybe tomorrow.

In 1805, The Corps of Discovery had their latrine here, exactly 300 feet from the cook fires. The latrine was confirmed by the presence of mercury in the soil. The mercury came from Dr. Rush's Thunderclappers.

The cook fires were near the tree in the center of the picture, some distance from the foreground.
