It would appear that those incidents signal the beginning of a civil war in Iraq.

I have read that many Moslems believe the US and Britain were probably covertly responsible for inciting those attacks because they want to play the Shiites against the Sunnis and vice versa. This is just like what the Brits used to do during the time when they were colonial masters in Asia.

If a full-fledged civil war ensues, it would only result in a mutual weakening of the two Iraqi factions, and eventually an Iraq that could be easily handled by the US. The US might judiciously side with one faction against another ala the British formula of old.
