Government service used to mean sacrificing for the community. Now it simply means sticking the money pipeline in your pocket.

Would Las Vegas exist if all the gamblers made money?

Would a multi billion dollar lobbying business exist if none of the lobbyists profited? How do they profit? By urging government officials to do their bidding. And what is the shape size and color of that urging? It looks like greenbacks to me.

Why would Bush offer to veto a bill that simply ask that we look deeper into allowing the government of UAE to run 6 of our largest ports? Like you said this company, DPI, is wholly owned by the government and the royals of UAE. The reason for any lack of caution here must be that Bush stands to profit as well. It certainly doesn't make sense to threaten to veto what the majority of your own party is concerned about.
