If you add up the Syrians, Lebanese, Egyptians, etc. maybe they even include Sudanian, Somalians in the Arab group, AND the Iranians, you may then get to ~23%, probably less since that census data was from 10 years ago. Iranians by themselves are going to be less than 1% of the population of the UAE. When the CIA calls out a particular group, it means that group is the majority. Having said that, I thought the Iranian percentage of the population would be closer to 20%; instead its 17% for the whole of UAE and 25% for Dubai. Why would you think 1%? Look where UAE is located.......its right across the Gulf from Iran."Iranians who travel to Dubai for business are estimated to constitute 25 percent of Dubai's population." worldnetdaily.com "Almost all of the seven emirates' 2.4 million citizens are Muslim and live in communities that straddle its 650- kilometer Persian Gulf coastline. Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah collectively govern 85% of the population. Close to 80% of the population is comprised of expatriate nationals and nearly 66% of the population is male. South Asians, mainly Indians and Pakistanis, make up 45% of the population. The next three largest expatriate ethnic groups are Iranians (17%), Arabs from other parts of the Middle East (13%) and Westerners (5%). Virtually all of the federation's Iranians and the Shias (16%) live in Dubai.4"meria.biu.ac.il you didn't know that UAE is made up of lots of foreigners most of whom are not citizens of UAE. Where do you think I live? Well, I don't think you know much about where you live. ;-)more importantly, how do I get the sound to function again on my PC!? Did you do what I suggested?
