There was no segregation when I started as Admin. With Bob's approval, my highest priority mandate for the first year was to segregate the political discussion from the rest of the site, and not without a great deal of criticism at the time. There were many "political" posters who did not like being deprived of that captive audience. I suspect (and hope) that few people now believe that was the wrong thing to do.

Not I.......I prefer it.

And just for the record.......when the thread on which I post started out......there were maybe two or three of us. Now on average [roughly] we have 10 regular posters; 8 intermittent posters and 3-5 occasional posters. That growth has been over 5 years.

Yours and others' comments are reasonable and appreciated. Nonetheless, the success of our business model is dependent on the topic of investments and not on politics. That's why we choose to place emphasis the Investment forums for purposes of awarding contest prizes.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your side of the story.

The fact remains that they have a tendency to be very-high overhead and undesirable content from the perspective of advertisers.

So if I post one million and one crappy stock picks to enthrall the compulsive gamblers of the world, that makes me one of the good SI members? I have been contributing to this downward spiral of a web site for six years, and now I learn that I am "undesirable from the perspective of the advertisers."

Remove the non-stock-picking threads so that the undesirables like me will get bored and go away. But don't tell us that we are not wanted. We are the ones entertaining the stock-pick fiends who pay your bills. The $1,000 is very small compared to the value of being treated as an equal.
