This realtor is a regular on the Housing Bubble 2 blog and has his own bubble page (link on the lower left side of his page). He is no pollyanna and has a very realistic view of SD North County. He's also a really good guy. So if you're really looking up there, I highly recommend you give this guy a call. He seems very low key. I hate realtors but I've sent a couple of people who insist on buying to to him.

"What parts of Oceanside are nice and affordable?"

If you head east on Mission from the 5, drive a couple of miles and look to the south. Some nice neighborhoods there. If you get on El Camino Real off Mission (Hwy 76 by then) and drive south, there will be nice neighborhoods on either side of you until you hit Carlsbad.

One factor that will always be in Oceanside's future is Camp Pendelton directly north, with it's 80,000 Marines and Oceanside being the closest town. The Marines are why I went to bars in Encinitas! A little too much very young testosterone in the Oceanside drinking establishments on the weekends! But you'll never lack for a cheap barber that only knows how to do high and tight!
