The reality is the civil court system doesn't work. It's extraordinarily expensive, prone to fraud, prone to idiocy, delay and other things. What good is having a case against a corporation if it takes 10 years to get through the system? You don't mind having the government protect the citizens against foreign invaders. What do you have against government protecting its citizens against each other? It can be just as harmful to be a victim of medical malpractice or corporate fraud as it can be to have some mugger bop you on the head.
