<Not all countries and "allies" are the same. ... Pretending otherwise is silly.>

That's for sure.

I wouldn't say that what China has done has "worked". All they did was reduce the amount of suppression. That's what NZ's government did in 1984, then they claimed they were whizz-bang great government people. Stopping beating people isn't a good quality really.

More important is doing well the things that are the responsibility of the government and they did NOT do those things well and neither does China. Look at their MADness over Taiwan for example. Look at their concept of human rights. See how they suppressed information on sars.

EnergyPlay, you are the expert, do you know of a good coal company located outside of the US which specializes in ordinary coal, not coking coal for a steel mill? The reason why I say outside of the US is that I strongly believe that every company that has the bulk of its business in the US will some day have to pay its part of the bill when the waiter comes after the US feast of government overspending and the overspending in residential real estate is over.
Integrated gasification combined cycle process is the thing of the future, starting in 2010 when American Electric Power's IGCC generator begins generating power. It's the almost nonpolluting combustion of power, the cheapest source of energy that we will see. The decade of 2010-2020 should see a boom in that. To the benefit of producers of that kind of coal everywhere.
