Not dormant, but "defeated". You get the bug and a subclinical infection, where it is controlled by the immune response without symptoms. When you're bled, later, you have an antibody "titer" that is distinctly higher than the natural occurring cross-reactive crap that any human has floating around in them. This high titer says "hey, I'm immune..... I've seen the bug, become infected, and lived to tell about it".

However.... it's best to assume that such reports are crap until one has seen the original data.

No, no reason to believe that dormancy is an issue with any influenza virus.
