I had a similar experience with the Lapostolle 2001 Cab, which I was aging as it was a bit too harsh to drink upon purchase.

During the Katrina evacuation, it got very hot in my house thanks to the lack of electricity and I wondered yesterday what the effect would be on the Lapostolle.

Damned if it did not improve markedly. I think I bought it at $11, and I am very pleased. Very drinkable now, and might end up being a notable wine in a few more years.
