For what did you want to visit Troy?
I think you're nuts if you DON'T want to see Troy.

did you want to see if Schliemann left any loot for you? alex.edfac.usyd.edu.au

The story referred is one of the commonest about Schliemann And certain;y is possible- -Scliemann DID have a less that truthful disposition. It is also true the where he claimed to find the cache of jewelry would have been in Troy II, a stone age settlement at least a thousand years too early. The Troy of Trojan War should have been Troy VI or Troy VII. If there was a Trojan War, which has never been proven. Also, among his first acts was to bedeck his wife Sophia with them, have her photographed, and get out of Turkey. His excavation permit required him to turn all material found to the Turkish Gov't (then the Ottoman Empire). By not doing so, he made himself a thief in their eyes (even though they undoubtedly would have stolen them themselves if he had) and ended his archaeological career there.

He later gave the jewels to the Berlin Museum. They were there until the end of WW II when they disappeared. They were rumored to have been stolen by the Soviets, who denied any knowledge of them. In 1996 the Pushkin Museum in Moscow quietly put them on display. Or what was left. Some are still missing.

I always wondered why there weren't any bodies left around the city after Brad Pitt attacked. movieweb.com;
