China seems likely to turn back the clock 300 years [as per TJ's theory about the 300 year accident], but without the political modernity.

I guess they'll just resurrect emperors, which is pretty much what they have now. Pretty soon there will be lines of descent established to complete the return to the past, albeit with taller buildings, cyberspace, cars and railways.
