Unfortunately, most people still vote for welfarism and suffering, though they don't realize that's what they are doing. You have too much ideology to even see things the way they are. Given a choice many people choose subsistent welfare over hard work. They even tolerate a good deal of intrusive meddling in their lives by those handing out the welfare, in exchange for not having to work. Meanwhile, Libertarians go around exclaiming, "Give me freedom or give me death", and think that this is an intrinsic human value. What BS. Having a full stomach is an intrinsic human value. Staying somewhat warm is another. There is a hierarchy to values, and not everyone has the same hierarchy. Back on the topic of currency and monetary systems, and governments in general. Has it every occurred to you that there is far more competition in such things than you imagine? Take computer operating systems. There are only three reasonable choices, MS, Apple, and the Unix variants. Thats the extent of my choices. But there are dozens of countries I could choose to live in, if I thought there were compelling reasons to choose one over the other. America is a prime example of that on both the life quality and currency level. Something like 80% of the worlds savings are reinvested in our monetary system. Yet you blather on about the great wickedness of currencies run by governments. There are many market feedback effects in monetary systems.
