Why is it stealing? Because I steal from the maids' carts, but to only a very conservative degree. Sometimes, I ask the maids if I can steal from their carts, but most times I just find the cart and pillage and plunder away. Ah Ha!!! Now here is the problem I see with that, and what has caused me not to take items off the maids' carts - what if the hotel keeps track of the supplies, and allots only so many little bottles of shampoo and so many bars of french milled soap as are rooms to be stocked? If you take from the cart, the maid may come up short, and be charged by management for the loss, maybe even fired. I might be wrong about this, but you may be leaving a string of fired hotel workers in your wake when you travel.
