Sure Cheney wasn't under oath when he "visited" with the prosecutor, but if he said one thing and clearly did another, this ties right in with Scooter's claim that his "superiors" told him to leak classified info." Yes, the 'acting under orders' argument may work for the defense. (In times past this was known as the 'Good German' excuse....) Of course, to set Libby free in this manner, the buck has to lodge even more firmly at the administration's doorsteps. This 'belated discovery' of previously 'lost' emails may evidence the first tentative steps by the WH to provide a little daylight between themselves and Cheney on this issue... as an elderly pol who is NOT in the running for office any more (and with other issues that affect his 'Q rating'), surely someone over at the WH has realized that --- if it becomes politically advantageous for them to do so --- a dignified 'retirement' of cheney for 'reasons of health' could put many issues BEHIND the WH... and afford them a little more vigor and political heft in their last remaining years. (Perhaps not so coincidentially, if someone like Rice moved into the V.P. slot... that would ALSO through a huge spike into McCain's campaign chances. An 'extra bit of luck' they may fancy.)
