We don't want the first sign we were wrong about the UAE running our ports to come in the form of a mushroom cloud from a container shipped by AQ!

So what is your point? You think we should turn over our port security to Dubai? Why don't we just outsource Homeland Security to Iran? Elroy, you're losing your common sense in your effort to be politically correct.

You asked what is my point. Well done.

Then you proceed to tell me my views. Poorly done, and a waste of time.

My point is that most people objecting to the Dubai-based company taking over contracts to operate domestic US ports have zero idea how it will change national security, so the objection (based on national security concerns) aren't that meaningful. Every knowledgeable person that I have heard or read has indicated that operating the ports is a separate matter from national security, as it relates to ports. National security, as it relates to ports, is handled by US government agencies, particularly the Coast Guard and Customs.

The Chinese operate US ports, as do the Singaporeans and even those blasphemin' Danes. I don't think in any case US national security has been outsourced to those countries. And I don't think it will be when the Dubai-based company takes over the British company which has the contracts to operate some US ports. I'm no expert, but that's my understanding.

I think the people who are concerned with national security have good intentions, but little knowledge of this subject.
