I'm not willing to leave a userid and password on a public computer.

The userid and pw will not be retained unless you check the box asking them to be.
Close the browser when you are through and they will perish.

The only way they would be retained would be through a keystroke reader piece of malware, which is unlikely, especially on a Mac.
