I was stunned at the chimp's nomination in 2000 and didn't take it seriously. I was flabbergasted at his selection later that year as President of the United States. I realized back then that Gore was not a heavyweight. But that didn't give the nation reason to consider a known lightweight to be Commander in Chief.

The chimp hadn't had any experience in public life other than running one of the world's largest death chambers. His business experience was hilarious at best. He was a world renowned C student in college who had never even been to Europe. The guy is a complete and total asshole and always has been.

People now who are lamenting having voted for the chimp in 2000 make me scratch my head. What was his appeal? I don't get it. As his "election" unfolded in late 2000, I was simply stunned to the back of my seat. Those were heady times. People simply recklessly thought they could cast an anti-Gore vote and put a frat boy in the White House.

Reagan started the "everyman" myth that an actor or some kind of morph of that can be President. This is a dangerous world. But, again, 1999 and 2000 were heady times. So we decided to give the hard core right wing control of the government. I blame the Democrats for not putting a more palatable candidate up in 2000 or for not getting Clinton and Gore to settle their differences prior to the general election.

The right wing means business, it's religiously based, and it's crazy. Is that surprising to be people now? Being a Republican, for me, for many years has been thoroughly inexplicable. The way the chimp and his merry band of fascists have manipulated 9/11 to scare the shit out of the public is reprehensible but not surprising.

The chimp and his cronies are nothing more than a criminal operation. I'm sad to see that so many people were duped by them in 2000.
