A TV series show I seen explained what a chat site was:

A place where people get together and argue with each other

To be fair they were talking about IRC, I laughed anyways.

I don't have the time to post at length, but I want you to know that I agree totally with your approach and believe that most here feel the same way. IMO, the political boards are a liability. I'd be happy to see the elimination of the home for such boards as "George Bush did 9/11," and the like. Not many ad buyers would want to be associated with that topic or the ones that deny the Holocaust or blame the US for all of the world's problems.

If I ran this place, political threads would be invisible to casual browsers and free members -- as if they didn't exist.

Even paid members would be able to access no more than just the political thread titles, and would be required to pay extra -- per post -- for reading and posting privileges on them.

That should dent their popularity and make SI money in the process.

Win/win.

That was educational for me. Thanks. It all makes sense now.

From: SI Bob "We're NOT a political site and we have no desire
to attract new members to the political boards."

Then why do you not "Walk your Talk" Bob?

Symbol: [JOB]...General Employment Enterprises Inc

Search: [JOB] [Public Msgs]

tim, There is enough BobZ's code on IH for Matt to copies & paste
and reduce: "get a lot of doodoo, because of common association."

re: "For code searches by stock symbols..." (i.e. JOB)

Just need to create additional options to Search: [Public Msgs]

Search: [Public Msgs on All Boards]
Search: [Public Msgs on Free Boards: OTC BB, Listed & Nasdaq]
Search: [Public Msgs on Free Boards: Canadian, Foreign Churakian]
Search: [Public Msgs on Premium Boards: Stock Clubs]

Question for BobZ: Would this reduce the amount of database being searched?

Using your example: Message Results search on: "JOB"

Lots of non stock boards you want not to be searched.

Board(s)
...
TORINO 2006 OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES
Zeev's Turnips Talk Politics
The Parking Lot
Discover GOP Opprobrium
The Question and Answer Board
Simply Politics
GOLDBUGS
Simply Politics
Rants and Raves
GameZnflix

...

Golly Bob, you could add to above...

Search: [Public Msgs only on All Political Boards]
