This is the argument i got into with bill last election. Your strategy is to win another narrow at best 51-49 vote victory along with your electoral vote majority that you claim is in the bag. With McCain you get a larger vote count victory with our without more electoral votes. Remeber in 2000, your electoral majority came down to a few votes in Florida. After the 2006 election we can start checking the polls to verify either of our positions. The biggest question is where Hillary can pick up votes to win a red state? Sounds like its remote except that i have watched her operate first hand in NY and i am not talking about the city buy upstate which is typically republican. Take a look at the senate race in NY and how she polls there. That leads me to some contentious midewest states where republicans win more narrowly or in southern border states like TN and AK. McCain provides insurance by pitting her against a genuine war here.
