You are right about the automatic lame duck status mc cain would have as a one-termer. But i think he could capitalize on it as well as leverage it, and hold congresses feet to the fire as he becomes a no-politics type of can-do President. Going back to bush--there have been alot of votes lost since reagan and trying to win on your very narrow strategy may not be good enough. Allen would have to get some sex appeal and separate himself from unpopular current president on some issues.
