I am bothered, too, by the pace of technology, not the pace, itself, but the lack of support that we have in dealing with it. Even with the vast treasure trove of the internet it's hard to find good advice on such things. There seem to be fewer timely reviews out there perhaps because what used to be timely isn't anymore.

I mentioned the other day that I was looking at the technology-laden new Acura RL. One of its features is bluetooth connection with a cell phone so you can talk on it with just a flip of a switch on the steering wheel. My first thought was that I'd have to get a bluetooth phone. My cell phone is antique. When I got it you had to get your cell phones from your service provider, that's how long it's been. I briefly looked at phones on the internet, was overwhelmed, and quickly decided I didn't need the grief.

It used to be that, when you wanted to buy something, you could as ask a few friends about their experiences and someone would know and give you the straight dope. Not so anymore. At least not for anything higher tech than a dishwasher, which I recently bought with little stress. <g>
