I think race defines us more than is popularly admitted. And more than race, parents [which is just race in microcosm]. Nearly all of what we are, we don't select ourselves. Mostly we just run our inbuilt genetic programme and make superficial selections along the way using the cultural norms and experiences we bump into to adapt somewhat. Mqurice
