FRPT 1.90 + .10 Force Protection Again Hits Production Goals
Business Wire - March 01, 2006 08:45

LADSON, S.C., Mar 01, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Armored vehicle manufacturer Force Protection, Inc. (OTCBB:FRPT) today announced it has met production objectives for the month of February. The company, which supplies blast- and ballistic-protected vehicles to all branches of the U.S. armed forces, delivered 15 Cougar Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Rapid Response Vehicles (JERRVs) to the government in February alone. To date, Force Protection has delivered 28 vehicles since the beginning of the year.

"We have systematically built a foundation to support the increasing demand for our vehicles," said CEO Gordon McGilton. "Our objective is to meet the requirements of an assembly-line manufacturer. We know that the ability to meet higher production volumes is important to our customers. We believe it additionally demonstrates that our expanded plant capacity is ready for higher volume, follow-on orders. The steadily improving production numbers since fall of last year clearly show that this objective is being accomplished."

Large requirements, such as a May 2005 order from the Department of Defense for more than 120 Cougar JERRVs, have led to substantial expansions in Force Protection's production facilities and manufacturing processes.

"Awareness of our vehicles and the critical purpose they serve for our troops has never been higher," said McGilton. "From military leaders to the media, it is evident our vehicles provide the solution to the problem of IEDs and other explosive threats. We are showing the production capacity necessary to meet the intense demand for these life-saving vehicles."

While Force Protection does not publicize the exact number or location of vehicles currently deployed, more than 100 have been delivered to the U.S. government since 2003. Based on orders already received, that number is expected to more than double by June 2006.
