If you dont start to collect till 66 instead of 72 you will have to live a considerable age past 66 just to break even. You get an annual statement from SS indicating your estimated monthly, I found it to be accurate, except that if you were in the Service you will actually get MORE then the paper shows. (I got that pleasant surprise upon going down to sign up). So, subract what you can get monthly at 62 from what you get monthly if you wait till 66 (I think its about 25% more), multiply by 12 (mos) then by 4 (Years), divide the answer by what you get at age 62 and that will tell you how many extra months or years you must live to break even. I didnt want to chance it. jdn
