Re: "What Pro and many others on this thread don't seem to understand is that many of us do support traditional Republican issues and values. You mentioned small government, balanced budgets, avoiding the intrustion of government in private lives, avoiding foreign entanglements, and many more. These have been Republican themes for decades..."

You've hit the nail precisely on the head!

"but they are not Bush themes."

Exactly. Pro (& a very small number of others posting here who seem to be 'deep into the cool aid') have CONFLATED 'Bush' in their minds with 'Conservative' and with 'Rebublican'.

There are OFTEN clear and obvious differences.

Some of these posters will GLADLY sell out conservative positions... if the Bushies call for it. Their reality is shaped by an obsequence to whomever holds the Authoritarian 'top dog' slot, or to this particular politician only... and they will rationalize away ANY principle if needs be --- even the most basic of traditionally conservative beliefs.

"So when did being Pro- Bush define being Republican? Or Conservative?"

LOL! This sad state of affairs too will pass... that is one of the beauties of being term limited.
