Economics do not always rule the roost. We just told China last year to take their billions and shove it when they tried to by UNOCAL. Also, some defense firms are off limits due to their sensitive nature. It's just a matter of setting public policy. We could either make it illegal for foreign firms to own our ports, meaning American firms would be the bidders for them or we could make a short list of friendly countries like Canada and Great Britain, but I doubt the UAE could qualify given their past ties to terrorists like Osama Bin Laden.
