Any Chinese 3G plays in your acct.?

Sergio, if you read the article by Jason Dean on today's WSJ it seems that China is ready to make heavy investments on its cellular phone system. It seems that they are going ahead with the TD-SCDMA in spite of some problems they had with it last year.

Siemens is the one that has been working on the TD-SCDMA and it has doubled in the last year. (It was already out of my buying range when it was trading above 2000 & more so at 4343.<g>) There are several small Chinese companies that have been doing work on that, but I haven't played with any.

CDC Corp.(CHINA) has a presentation tomorrow at Piper Jaffray's 3rd Annual China Internet and Technology Conference in Beijing. But it is on the conference's online gaming session and I don't know how much it will benefit from the increase in cellular phone use. I still have a position & it is now starting to come out of my buying range.<g>

The last 2Qs have reported good increase on revenues and earnings have also been better.

The stock still hasn't doubled from its level at the start of the year, but it seems that it should be able to do it soon.<g>

I am still playing with ZICA & have been in & out more than 3 times. I am watching to see if the stock will form a base at 1.25 where I might pick up some shares.<g> They presented last week in Barcelona and I think that improving the mobile email user's text entry may be something useful.

The Chinese reportedly sent more than 329 billion text messages through their cell phones last year & it is expected that with the advent of 3G this will increase substantially as more people are expected to be using cell phones to access the web through cellphones than from computers.

As I said, I am out of the stock at this time, but may be back into it on short notice.<g>

Their reports haven't been good in the last 4Qs with lower revenues & higher losses. The 4thQ expectations still aren't any better with the loss expected about $0.01/shr more than in 2004. For the Yr. the loss is expected around $0.10 vs. $0.04/shr in 2004 but for 2006 the loss is expected to be cut to $0.03/shr.

And its longer term chart still looks "interesting".<g>
