I take it you disagree with Pei. vbg I thought he made a few worthwhile comments--the growing difference betwen the haves and the have nots is not only contrary to doctrine, but also socially unsettling, particularly where the world of ideas is as circumscribed as it is in China. And where the haves are thoroughly corrupt, well, we know where that goes. I think there's a potent story there, one that we may not see begin for 10-15 years but one which is inescapable if things go along as they are going.
