I imagine they studied the effects of program initiation. It would be useful to see what difference, if any, it makes if they stop an ongoing program.

Now that it's on hold for further study and vetting, we may never find out.

I don't find "giving away baby formula" much different than what cigarette companies used to do at colleges, giving away sample cigarettes. They are not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, I would guess.

Why does the hospital give access to new mothers by Gerber or whoever makes it? The same reason drug companies have access to doctors. Maybe, an all expense paid convention for the hospital administrator in Maui extolling the virtues of "baby formula" where one doesn't even have to attend if the surfs up..
