Taxation without representation

PS Wouldn't you only own New Zealand taxes on US capital gains anyway? At least when I sold my Alcatel stock I don't recall paying anything to France. I think there may have been some taxes on dividends withheld by France but it was hardly worth talking about.

<I thought you were really onto something here and then I found out there were all of 4 Kiwi War Dead in East Timor. You really are a BS artist aren't you?>

Are you sure you aren't exaggerating? I thought it was only one. Maybe the other three were killed in an accident.

I wondered if anyone would bother checking - well done. Isn't it fun?

But it is true! And the USA did give the green light to the genocidal conquest - a significant proportion of the local population was killed [about 15% I think over a couple of decades].

The NZ SAS troops in Afghanistan were in Afghanistan early on from my understanding and were up in the mountains in actual action. Usefully so too, I believe, though I don't have any good information.

QCOM has been paying a LOT of taxes for years. My dividends have only been recent. QCOM sells a lot of ASICs in NZ and elsewhere around the world. And collects eye-watering royalties if you believe the whining beneficiaries of the technology who pay only 5% of the wholesale price [and sometimes less].

Yes, it is profits which are sent to overseas shareholders of NZ subsidiaries. Those are interests. I have interests around the world and those companies have interests around the world.

What I do is outsource the defence of my interests to a competent military service, the Pentagon. Outsourcing is popular these days. Many in the USA whine about outsourcing of USA jobs. Well, I'm outsourcing a very fun job to USA citizens. I expect some gratitude! It's much more fun to sail around on USS Ronald Raygun and USS Enterprise than bolting something on a chassis in Chicago all day every day. What a nice job. And very well-paid too.

It's a team. I provide the cash flow, they provide the military services. Around the globalized world, people are specializing and economies are integrating.

What's needed is a NUN to provide a federal level political integration.
