I'm no longer as concerned about missing a top than protecting capital. Was it painfull to only book half of the gains in energy during the January run? Sure it was but in hindsite, I made the correct decision sitting on 50% cash. I'll be here to play in the sandbox for awhile longer because of it. Looking at the carnage over the last 10 trading days is easier with cash than a full position. I'm fairly confident whatever gains gave up in Janaury will be recovered when this selling is over. CC

Darfot do you have anything to add to the board other than your desire to one up those of us who invest in this sector in a different manner? How many times are you going to show up talking about how good you did in January while the rest of us watched the weather and missed the boat? Many of us as you well know are primarily invested in a specific sub sector of the energy sector. Sure I wish I was in oil sands or offshore plays or in OIH. But I cant be everywhere all the time and still stay focused.. You focus on one month, some of us are riding several years of good gains and are very wary of conditions that can be quite unforgiving. Go ahead be critical, I am happy as can be that I rode NBR PTEN up generally with 25-40%+ of my assets.
