Public health has a place in making sure hospitals don't mislead patients. You may have missed the excellent data I found on the extreme ignorance of some new mothers (obviously not the middle to upper class mothers we would socialize with)- they are getting little to no information on breastfeeding. When you combine marketing of an inferior product through the hospital, and ignorance, I think public health has a reason to get concerned.

Since you do not think public health can even regulate the gift bags (even though the hospitals give out formula in hospital if it is requested) we will simply have to disagree on the abuse of freedom going on here.
