Bingo. A masterful piece of work that ties it all together.. Yes I rarely hear anyone talk about the risk premiums required of lenders. Risk premiums should include credit, inflation and illiquidity.. Do you think Bernake believes he can keep the long end from moving up by just slowing the economy down? No doubt he prefers a steep yield curve as the end game down the road without too much of a backup (perhaps to the mid 5% range tops) at the long end.
