What you did in Mexico is standad procedure. You give the cops money, they let you go with no paperwork and no one else involved. It's known as a "bribe". :-)

I've had a few occasions where I've asked info of your mounties up there. They've been polite and professional and given good information. I don't really have concerns about them. Like here, there are had none.a few bad apples, but mostly the cops are honest and helpful. I found the same true of the bobbies in Britain.

I had been told to expect trouble in Turkey, but had none. My experiences with them south of the US border have been quite different.
