Shows your complete ignorance of the facts. Either you are lying about speaking to Indians, or you spoke to a bunch of Hindu religious fanatics. Gandhi was opposed to the partition. Get it?

The partition itself was caused because Hindu religious fanatics started talking about making Muslims second-class citizens in the future independent India, and this naturally led to some Muslims under the leadership of Jinnah demanding a separate, independent nation for the minorities.
