The RNC always attacks the poll if they don't like it, but then Fox News Poll comes out with the same or similar results and they shut up.

CBS is not biased against Bush. Their CEO endorsed Bush. They dumped Rather even though Rove probably framed him and the story was correct. Their credibility is much more important to them than any minor poll tampering would be. Plus, there is always a margin of error. If you don't like 34%, tack on 5%. Or subtract 5%.

These poll results also depend on how the questions are asked. For instance if I asked --

"Do you approve of how Bush handled Iraq, deficit spending, Katrina, selling our ports to an Arab country, illegal wiretapping, Iran, Palestine, gas gouging, Osama Bin Lauden, medicare and GOP corruption scandals?" -- very few people would answer "yes". In fact, only idiots would. Those are the biggest issues facing us today. None of them are going to go away.

The Cheney shooting is more of a bad joke. Certainly it hurt Cheney and made Bush look weak and dishonest too. It made them all look bad. Pres coverage on it is not a big issue. But it's true, there are much bigger issues the press should be covering.
