Your vision is unfortunately 20/20... Party members have lost their credibility and their integrity. We see it on this thread daily... I see lefties hoping for some definition of failure that would occur because it would diminish Bush's ratings. I see right wingers claiming any kind of success as points for the republican party. Both of these extremist attitudes are definitions for corruption and guarantees that we all lose in the long run. I hope we can do better going forward.

I see no inherent reason for any of us, or any Iraqi, to 'want' us Marshaling their country indefinitely. The current circumstance requires our continued diligence, but our mission should always include the desire to formulate an exit strategy. Tell that to Dumbya and his folks who are building permanent bases in Iraq! At this point we are not even clear on how to define the operation as a 'success' or as having achieved levels or success, or alternative modes of success, that would authorize our departure according to some strategy. Exactly. Dumbya says we will "win" in Iraq. What exactly is meant by "winning"?! I see lefties hoping for some definition of failure that would occur because it would diminish Bush's ratings. Most of the leading Democrats have already taken a Republican Lite stance. As for anybody "hoping" for a failure, it doesn't matter what they hope for. The illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq will be a colossal failure, and deservedly so. I see right wingers claiming any kind of success as points for the republican party. Like those meaningless elections from last year?! Both of these extremist attitudes are exempliary corruption and guarantees that we all lose in the long run. I hope we can do better going forward. We have illegally invaded and occupied a nation. Its people are going to put everything in their fightback and they will keep fighting us for decades if necessary. They can't "pack up and go home"; they are already home. If we had stayed in Vietnam, would we have "won"? Absolutely. If we were in Vietnam today, we would be dealing with insurgents there now.
