The Coast Guard works for the Bush admin. What they said is about as close as they can come to saying UAE ownership is a threat. It took guts just to do that, and will probably still cost some careers there. Apparently Bush hasn't staffed the operation with Brownies yet.

What can I say? Read the post below again. The Coast Guard has zero capability to determine any foreign entities' connections to terrorist. That's the CIA's job, not the Coast Guard's job.

When the Coast Guard says they do not have the intelligence to determine whether a British company, a Dubai company or a Chinese company has ties to terrorism, it means that, and nothing else. They said the same thing about the British company (which had the contracts) as they said about the Dubai company - determining ties to terrorism in foreign companies is beyond their capacity.

And if you think about it, how would the Coast Guard have any in depth knowledge about foreign companies? It's not what they do.
