Talking about the Brits and their extortions in the colonies, The Dutch were not far behind. Neither were the French.

But what's less known, the Belgians starting out with a little private business by their king down in Congo most likely took the price for brutality.
Thus even surpassing the Dutch in Surinam.

No doubt Gustave knows a few things here.

re: lost assets as a result? I don't see any ancestors on the one sub-branch of my family complaining about this.

you mean to say Hitler stole something from you and current Germany is not returning it?

re: to this day there is discrimination against women

how do you manage to turn any topic into discrimination of wemen? (the question is in the spirit of your 1 war statement)

re: there were more murders in one country during a war in South America than all of the Holocaust

since we are not talking just about the jews, which country in South America had over 60 million murders

>A fair person would either have to have the belief that victims of all wars (not just the one you pick because it involves your ancestors), but victims of all wars, should be compensated. Or, the belief that no victims should be past compensated. But your belief is that only the war which impacted YOUR ancestors should get the special treatment - you conveniently neglect a lot of other wars and abuses in history.

Yeah, but Amy, in the case of WWII, it was possible to track down the particular banks/companies that had taken possession of the victims' property... there was quite the paper trail, apparently. I think that Holocause restitution was OK, I just wish someone would've stood up for other victims besides the Jews.
