And even if there weren't, so what? Nationalism, at least in the Western sense, was much more the domain of Europeans in the 18th and 19th centuries than the domain of the Arabs. It doesn't give Europeans the right to kick Arabs off their land.


All true.

Nonetheless, the Arabs did care, expressed their unhappiness, and were ignored. And because they were weaker than the Europeans, they were shunted aside.
