Sounds like one of the reasons I don't listen to talk radio. Especially NPR. These people's number one job is to find enough blather to keep their shows going. NPR's blather is leftist.

But on the subject of magnetism, we really know very little. We do know that we all have some magnetic orientation in our bodies. Some more than less, some species more than others. Is is possible you would get a better nights sleep if you slept in one direction rather than another? Nothing has been proved.

I know I get to sleep when my head is pointed north, and I lay on my right side. But when I moved here from the mainland, I switched from having my head pointed west, due to the layout of the bedroom, and as I look back on it, it took me a while to adjust to that. Does that really mean anything? Well, it's a good conversational item, but unproved.

If a willing buyer thinks he gets good value from Home Consultant's advice, and HC can make a living doing it, great.

What caught your ear in this story?

Are you sure that was an NPR story? I was unable to find it at npr.org by keyword search or review of the weekend lineup. What was the date and local time of the program you heard, and what were the station's call letters?

going to talk to us about living in smaller spaces. He has designed homes that are half the size of the typical Japanese home, about 150 sq ft. He is going to show us how you can live just healthy with a much smaller footprint

Boats and airplanes, boats and airplanes. This is a new trend in architecture.

Say you leave camp, walk south for a mile, shoot a bear, walk east for a mile looking for your hunting partner to help skin the bear, and then walk north for a mile, only to find your partner safe at home in camp.

What color is the bear?

....

I think you are safe pointing your head in any direction you want, unless the bear turns out to be white -- which proves that you are at the North Pole, and all directions are south from there. Also, you might become lunch, which is a much higher probability than suffering from magnetic declinations.

If you sleep under the stars in the high latitudes, you might have a better chance of seeing the Northern Lights with your body aligned with feet North and Head South. Unless you are REALLY far north, in which case straight up will suffice.

I'm with LindyBill on this issue. I wish NPR would stick to topics of universal appeal and forget stuff like "All Things Left of Center Considered."
