Louisiana officials angrily blamed the federal government for not being prepared, but the transcripts show they were still praising FEMA as the storm roared toward the Gulf Coast and even two days afterward. “I think a lot of the planning FEMA has done with us the past year has really paid off,” Col. Jeff Smith, Louisiana’s emergency preparedness deputy director, said during the Aug. 28 briefing.

Its easy to be a monday morning quarterback AFTER THE EVENT but as you can see the so-called experts where PRAISING FEMA even during the briefing. We didnt elect Bush or any other President as a HURRICANE EXPERT or a LEVEE EXPERT. Even AFTER the hurricane it was at least two days before anyone in Washington knew there was a levee breach that was unstoppable. How you can expect someone THOUSANDS of miles away to do something when the LOCAL MAYOR left THOUSANDS OF BUSES sitting to drown (we all SAW THE PICTURES AS THE WATER ROSE) is beyond me. jdn

The Louisiana officials, the mayor and the governor, are responsible for their people, why blame Bush for everything? It's clearly opportunistic and highly illogical...
