I'm not talking about what multiplier to place on China's gdp. There is a quality difference. Can't you see that real estate commission, mortgage broker commissions, borrow out of your house and go blow it on dinners, vacations, clothes and toe salons is different than producing something of value?

Hell...even the frozen organic broccoli that I bought this week came from China.

If we can't even grow our own broccoli, we're in deep shit.

I agree that the U.S. could adjust and thrive if that what we as a people wanted to do. However that would require getting your hands dirty, living within your means and trading in the Guccis for work boots. That's an adjustment that so far the American people aren't willing to undertake. The adjustment process won't be undertaken voluntarily. It will only be by necessity.

I for one can't wait to see mortgage brokers retrain as broccoli growers.
