re: You know, I look back a year ago and I was still defending this administration against you and tejek and others. I can now freely admit that I was wrong to defend them.

I think you are part of a large group of people. It's hard to overcome that "party affiliation", often it's ingrained as a family tradition. I think that's why the largest "party" in the country are the "independents".

re: It puts me in a real quandry, because I still have my old-style Republican values, but I have no party that represent me anymore.

That's why we need a third party, cut all this ideological crap and corruption, and just make good pragmatic decisions for the American people. A "Competence" party.

All I end up thinking is come fast 2008 and I pray they don't do too much more damage in the next 3 years.

I think that's a mistake to think that way. As we are reminded from time to time, Bush and Cheney have no more elections they want to win. What do they have to lose putting through as much of their agenda as they can? Clearly they don't have all that much loyalty to the GOP.

Did you know that they are selling off national land to timber companies and developers here in the West to help pay for budget shortfalls? I suspect they are doing many things that don't make the national papers. If they stay in office, I am afraid we will have another disaster on the level of a 9/11 or an Iraq. That's why I want them out asap.
