<The SOX almost made it from the lower BB to the upper BB yesterday. Nice!>

13:53 NVLS Novellus: mid-quarter preview (27.09 -0.68) -Update-

Tonight after the close NVLS is expected to give their mid-quarter update. Amtech expects NVLS to narrow its bookings guidance to 15-20% from 10-20%, in line with most expectations... Deutsche Bank says recent checks indicate that overall demand for semicap equipment has accelerated, and that customers are pulling in orders, particularly memory (flash) chipmakers throughout Asia, and select foundries. Accordingly, they expect Novellus to tighten bookings guidance to the high end of the prior range (up 10% to 20% q/q). The firm notes pull-ins could also provide a boost to revenue and potentially gross margin in the current quarter.... Stifel says they do not expect major variances to the forecasts it provided on its earnings call in late January, but anticipate a tightening to the high end of its outlook. The firm says while they anticipate the co to provide a relatively upbeat outlook for the March quarter, they believe that this is driven more by a rising industry tide, rather than co outperformance. Cick here for technical levels of interest.
