Here is the article DB posted. The paragraphs which caused me to comment have been put in bold. It's not surprising to me since that is what candidates do when running and seeking funds.

Thanks for doing that. But that leaves me even more puzzled. Since both are members of the House and every member of the House is up for reelection every two years, it's not surprising. I gather you simply meant that as a comment about House members.

But there are two other things to think about. The first is just how competitive their district is. From reading Josh Marshall's blog, I've learned that Heather Wilson is an a highly competitive district, one that led her to have serious problems with Bush's social security plans, that also led her to be among the first to attack the NSA warrantless wiretapping.

As for Foley, I don't know.

But to argue the opposite from your point, there are a great many other legislators listed in the article, many of which are not up for reelection. So reelection couldn't be the explanation in their case. At least not immediate reelection.

My own view, changeable since I still don't understand the issues here as well as I would like, is that the increasingly obvious procedural failures of the administration in the review, coupled with the administration's unwillingness to deal honestly with the congress is enough to account for it.

What I find surprising are people like Frist and McCain who still publicly support the admin on this issue. What do you think?

And then there's Lou Dobbs. The guy has found a mission.
