but it's really easy to sit back now and say that Bush went too far in the wrong direction. It was real easy to see that Bush was going in the wrong direction then, although some chose to ignore the evidence. TP

Saddam sure wasn't a stabilizing force by any stretch of the imagination. In his own country he sure damn was...maybe he, unlike us, recognized that this patch work of a country could only be held together by force. OK, so what were the alternatives? Take over Pakistan instead? I hear Osama is narrowed down to a 100 square mile radius. Great, let's take over and surround that region, then give the residents 24-hour notice. Too harsh? What if Osama isn't there? Blame Bush again? Well, how do you even know he'd get away if we made afghanistan the focus? and what are we doing in pakistan now anyway? Ineffective is an adjective conservatives use when their boy REALLY screws up.
