In the very early 80s doctors and infectious disease experts were sounding the alarm that there was a terrible new disease occuring within the San Francisco gay community. I remember reading about it in the Atlantic magazine 1981. The Right took it as a joke, saying, so what, if it's killing gays, who cares... Pat Robertson, of course, added his moral nonsense to the issue. So much for christian caring for your brother, as a result the disease is everywhere.
